Bike Racers Protest

BLACKPOOL, England () -- Every rider on the Tour of Britain staged a 20-minute strike during its second stage after a car strayed on to the course and caused an accident when it drove into the race.

The riders were angry over poor security when the car's driver allegedly disobeyed instructions to stop from two police motorcyclists, hit both of them and then forced the leaders of the 102-strong field to swerve as it drove towards them at the 67-kilometer mark. No one was seriously injured.

Dutchman Wiebren Veenstra scored his eighth win of the season when he outsprinted Germany's Olaf Ludwig and Slovakia's Jan Svorada to take the 113-mile stage from Carlisle to Blackpool.
