Bengal Ferry Overturns

COX'S BAZAR, Bangladesh () -- Navy divers joined police and fishermen to search for bodies in the choppy Bay of Bengal where a ferry capsized killing up to 160 members of a wedding party. The ferry sank in rough seas, 40 kilometers from the resort town of Cox's Bazar, with more than 200 people on board around noon Sunday.

The ferry's master had left his assistant in charge and was resting when the vessel sank halfway through the trip, survivors told police.

"He lost control and the ferry just turned on one side and sank," said the groom, Zafar Alam, who lost his mother and two sisters.

The bride was at her home awaiting the ferry and the wedding guests it was carrying.

By late on Monday, 75 bodies were found but more than 90 people were still missing, also believed drowned.
