Bell Plans Move to East

BUCHAREST -- Helicopter manufacturer Bell Helicopter Textron, a division of United States company Textron Inc, is considering a deal to build Bell helicopters in Romania, a Romanian official said. "Experts from Bell Helicopter Textron are now evaluating production facilities at our plant," said Dan Bunescu, from the marketing department of Intreprinderea Aeronautica Romana SA. "We might sign a contract to build Bell helicopters here," Bunescu said in an interview last week from the plant in the city of Brasov. He said the Romanian state-run IAR helicopter makers in Brasov, 200 kilometers north of Bucharest, was finalizing arrangements with Bell Helicopter Textron. Talks between his plant and the leading U.S. helicopter manufacturer had started two years ago, he said.
