Bank Targets Crime

ST. PETERSBURG -- The fight against crime and the need for a federal deposit insurance system top the list of priorities at the Russian Central Bank, deputy bank chairman Dmitry Tulin told a news conference Wednesday. Speaking after a meeting on banking supervision, Tulin said anti-crime measures, plans for an insurance system and quarterly capital requirement reviews would give Russian commercial banks a critical boost. He gave no details.
