NEW YORK () -- Bell Atlantic Corp. and Nynex Corp. are talking about a possible merger that could create the second biggest telecommunications player in the United States, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
The combination of the "Baby Bells" would be second only to AT&T, with annual revenues of more than $27 billion and access to more than 36 million homes in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic United States.
