Asylum Offer Denied

MOSCOW () -- Russian Foreign Minister Andrei Kozyrev denied reports Russia was ready to offer political asylum to Ratko Mladic, the Bosnian Serb military commander wanted for war crimes.

Kozyrev accused the media of distorting a statement by the Russian military attache in Belgrade, who had mentioned the possibility of giving Mladic asylum. "It was his personal viewpoint, which doesn't reflect Russia's official position," Kozyrev told reporters Sunday in Moscow after voting in parliamentary elections.
