Arms Trading: Soldiers Held

TIRASPOL, Moldova -- A Russian Army sergeant and a policeman in the breakaway Transdnestr region of Moldova have been arrested for illegal arms trading, Itar-Tass said Tuesday.

Military police attached to the 14th Army seized 14 Kalashnikov submachine guns, four pistols, a grenade and ammunition that had been stashed in the sergeant's garage, the agency said.

Itar-Tass said the men had tried to sell the arms to rebel forces in Transdnestr.
