Arabs Seek Answers

ALEXANDRIA, Egypt () -- The leaders of Egypt, Syria and Saudi Arabia were holding a second day of talks Thursday as they sought to ease tensions over making peace with Israel and resolve troublesome quarrels from the Gulf war.

The mini-Arab summit comes amid Syrian displeasure over new moves by some Gulf states to make peace with Israel, and persistent divisions between nations who supported and opposed Iraq in the 1991 war.

The three countries' foreign ministers met Thursday morning, and presidents Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, Hafez Assad of Syria and Saudi King Fahd were to resume talks later in the day.

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa expressed his country's determination to unify Arab attitudes toward Israel.
