NEW YORK () -- Apple Computer Inc. said Friday it expects to lose money in the final three months of the year, a stunning sign of weakness after the computer maker cut prices earlier this month to keep up with competitors.
Apple, which said its total sales will increase more than they did a year ago, said its profit from each sale had dwindled.
Apple blamed the outlook on price cuts the company offered to meet competition in the United States and Japan.
