Anna Is Not Anastasia

WASHINGTON () -- New DNA test results provide conclusive evidence that a woman who died in Virginia in 1984 was not the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, as she claimed for many years, a scientist and an author say.

Anna Anderson Manahan died aged 82 after seeking for 60 years to be recognized as Anastasia, the youngest daughter of the last Russian tsar. A DNA scientist and the author of "Anastasia: The Riddle of Anna Anderson" claimed late Monday that they had tested hair samples belonging to Manahan.

They compared DNA from the samples to that of Anastasia's mother, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, and found that they did not match.
