Airbus Explodes in Test

OULOUSE Investigators were trying to discover Friday why an Airbus A330 crashed on a test flight and exploded in a fireball, killing all seven crew, in the 10th fatal crash involving an Airbus in six years. The plane's flight recorders were recovered after Thursday's crash at Toulouse-Blagnac International Airport, and would be analyzed as part of the probe by government and company investigators, Airbus officials said. The company said it was testing a new version of the 335-seat wide-bodied long-haul plane, with U.S.-made Pratt and Whitney engines which have not yet gone into commercial service.
