Ads Boom in Romania

BUCHAREST -- Romania's infant advertising industry could grow by an annual 20 percent for several years if the ex-Communist country speeds up market reforms, an industry leader said. "I would put the current advertising market value at around $50 million and this could grow by 20 percent a year if Romania moves in the right direction," said Radu Florescu, managing director of BSB Centrade Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising. Private ownership and stepped-up privatization should be encouraged and this would entail advertising business growth. BSB Centrade Saatchi & Saatchi, one of the first foreign advertising agencies to operate in Romania, is a sister company of London-based advertising group Saatchi and Saatchi Plc.
