2 More Businessmen Fatally Shot

Two more prominent Russian businessmen have been slain in contract killings in Moscow, city police officials said Tuesday.

A police officer involved in the investigation, who declined to be identified, said by phone that Alexander Oganov, 50, head of a chain of restaurants in the business center Sovincenter, was shot dead Monday by a hired assassin outside his 12th floor apartment in northern Moscow.

The officer said Oganov died on the spot. The criminal escaped, while police found a pistol with a silencer nearby, he said.

Igor Tsyrulnikov, a spokesman for the city police, said by phone that another "contract killing" had taken place Saturday on Fakelny Pereulok, central Moscow.

Lev Gavrilin, a leader of the National Sports Fund, was shot dead with a foreign-made sub-machine gun on a street close to his house, Zyrulnikov said.
