Nineteen people were killed and an unspecified number of others were injured in the former Soviet republic of Moldova when their passenger bus skidded on a wet road and fell into a ditch, Itar-Tass reported Monday.
The bus was carrying 82 people to the Moldovan town of Rybnitsa on Sunday evening. The news agency reported that the incident had been blamed on its driver, who tried to overtake a vehicle in front and failed to keep control. Regional authorities were investigating the incident and taking care of the survivors and families of the victims, the report said.
