This Sunday, amateur and professional anglers across Russia celebrate Fishermen's Day. While fishing stretches back to ancient times, the first traces of a commercial trade in Russia can be dated to the 10th century. Today, the average Russian eats some 26 kilograms of fish per year -- small fry when compared to the 6,500 kilograms caught per capita in Iceland.
