"Single Mona Lisa 1:1," a painting by the Belarussian-born artist Georgy Puzenkov, rests in front of a Progress rocket at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. On Friday, Italian astronaut Roberto Vittori will take the painting on a trip to the international space station. The cosmic happening is part of Puzenkov's ongoing project called "Mona Lisa Goes Traveling," in which the artist has attempted to have his painting photographed in as many unusual locales as possible. Friday also happens to be the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci, who painted the original "Mona Lisa" some 500 years ago.
