One of the few Old Believer churches in central Moscow stands in front of a radical new office building. When the building near Belorussky Station was completed last year, it sparked a debate among the city's architecture experts; many disliked the way its dark glass walls contrasted with the white Church of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker. Architect Andrei Gnezdilov defended his work, telling the newspaper Gazeta in January, "We felt the church could become even more interesting when seen against the backdrop of our building."
