The ascent of Ilya and Emilia Kabakov from Moscow's underground art scene was confirmed last Thursday with the opening of a commercial exhibition at the new Russian wing of the high-end Stella Art Gallery. The exhibition, which runs to the end of January, presents installations and paintings by the prominent emigre conceptualists, who often base their works on overheard conversations or objects taken for granted. At the upper left of this work, Anna Petrovna Sofronova asks, "Whose Ladle is This?" and at the upper right, Igor Nikolayevich Vikolov answers, "It's Olga Ivanovna's."
