Kremlin Says It's Unaware of Kadyrov's 'Threatening' Video

The Kremlin does not follow Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov's Instagram, and so is unable to comment on a controversial video featuring Russian opposition leaders in a sniper rifle scope, President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the TASS news agency Monday.

“We will watch the video to see what this is all about,” Peskov said.

Earlier on Monday Kadyrov published a video overlaid with sniper rifle scope and depicting Russian opposition leaders.

Mikhail Kasyanov, leader of the PARNAS political party and former prime minister appeared in the video with Vladimir Kara-Murza, PARNAS deputy head and Mikhail Khodorkovsky's “Open Russia” project coordinator.

Kasyanov said in response that the video constitutes a direct threat against him and a lawsuit against Kadyrov may follow after a consultation with a lawyer.

“Putin has to stop this presumptuous bureaucrat and give a public assessment of his actions. Putin is personally responsible for his actions,” Kasyanov also said on his Facebook page.

… we have a small favor to ask. As you may have heard, The Moscow Times, an independent news source for over 30 years, has been unjustly branded as a "foreign agent" by the Russian government. This blatant attempt to silence our voice is a direct assault on the integrity of journalism and the values we hold dear.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. Our commitment to providing accurate and unbiased reporting on Russia remains unshaken. But we need your help to continue our critical mission.
