Zenit Football Fans Blow Up Social Media With Incredible Pre-Game Flare Performance

Fans of Zenit St. Petersburg football club have lit up social media with a breathtaking pre-game display of support for their team before a Europa League game Thursday.

The fans lit flares along the entire route to their home stadium as Zenit’s bus made its way to the match.

Zenit went on to win the game 3-1 against Turkey's Fenerbahce S.C., taking the Russian team into the UEFA Europa League last round of 16.

After the game, Zenit coach Sergei Semak thanked the fans for their “incredible fire show” and unconditional support “no matter how or where we’re playing.” Zenit players including Branislav Ivanovic, Artyom Dzyuba and Claudio Marhcisio all expressed their admiration for the performance. 

The St. Petersburg club will face Villereal CF in the next round of the competition.
