St.Petersburg Man Pays $3,500 For Epic Cross-Country Taxi Ride

A St.Petersburg resident has dished out 230,000 rubles ($3,500) on an epic 12,500 kilometer taxi ride, across Russia, local media reported Tuesday.

Nikita Arkhipov traveled with a group of motorbike riders from his native city to Russia's far eastern region of Magadan.

The trip was organized by St.Petersburg branch of the Russian Geographic Society, and was created to inspire more Russians to travel in the country.

Arkhipov's trip was almost trouble-free, but the group ran into problems when a bridge between Yakutsk and Magadan collapsed due to the water erosion. The team were forced to stop for several days before continuing, Arkhipov said.
