Airlines Facing Closure Over Russia's Egypt Flight Ban

A number of Russian air carriers may be forced out of the market in 2016 as a result of Russia's ban on flights to Egypt, the Interfax news agency reported Tuesday, citing Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency.

About five or six airlines could stop operating by October if flights to Egypt aren't resumed by the summer, agency official Yury Malyshev said.

Moscow halted all passenger flights to Egypt in November last year after a Russian airliner crashed over Egypt's Sinai peninsula, killing all 224 people on board.
