Moscow Metro Central Stations to Close Saturday

Several central stations on the Dark Green Line will be closed Saturday.

Three metro stations on the Dark Green (Zamoskvoretskaya) Line in central Moscow — Teatralnaya, Tverskaya and Mayakovskaya — will be closed all day Saturday for track maintenance work, the metro announced on its website.

Two metro stations on the Purple (Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya) Line, Zhulebino and Lermontovsky Prospekt, will also be closed on Saturday, the metro said, while work continues to connect new station Kotelniki to the line.

In order to improve metro infrastructure, several stations within the Circle (Koltsevaya) Line have been closed for an entire day at a time to conduct necessary repair work. These measures come in the wake of last July's train derailment that resulted in the deaths of more than 20 people.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that Novokuznetskaya and Belorusskaya stations would also be closed. They will in fact be open for passengers traveling away from the center and changing onto other lines.
