Blast at Russian Fireworks Warehouse Kills 2

Two people were killed and at least 11 people injured in an explosion at a fireworks warehouse in central Russia, reports said Thursday.

The explosion took place at a private warehouse storing pyrotechnics in the city of Oryol, according to a statement by the regional branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry. Three nearby buildings caught fire as a result of the blast, media reported.

Eleven people sought medical treatment following the blast, including three children, the ministry statement said.

While the statement did not note any fatalities, the state-run news agency RIA Novosti cited a representative of the ministry as saying that two people had been killed.
