Suspect Detained Over Moscow TV Host's Violent Death

A man was detained on Wednesday in connection with the death of a young Moscow television presenter, according to an official police statement.

The wounded body of 24-year-old Andrei Rybakin was discovered in his Moscow home late Tuesday night. Police say they were notified of the incident by a neighbor who called in to report a strange smell coming from the apartment.

Security footage tipped police off to a visit to Rybakin by a 20-year-old acquaintance several days prior.

The suspect, who police believe attacked Rybakin with a baseball bat when the two began to argue after consuming large amounts of alcohol, has been detained and is being questioned. Police also believe he stole two laptops from the victim's apartment before fleeing.

Rybakin had worked as a presenter for the local television station "360 Degrees of Podmoskovye." Earlier, Maria Dmitriyeva, a spokeswoman for the channel, said in comments to RIA Novosti that Rybakin had been found with gunshot wounds.
