ROSA KHUTOR — U.S. freeskier Maddie Bowman has won the first-ever gold medal in women's ski half-pipe in Sochi.
Bowman scored 89 points at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park on Thursday to take first place ahead of France's Marie Martinod on 85.40, with the bronze going to Ayana Onozuka of Japan on 83.20.
X-Games champion Rosalind Groenewoud could only manage seventh for Canada after crashing on her first run and posting a below-par second run score of 74.20.
