Education Ministry Planning Anti-Terrorism Activities in Schools

The Education and Science Ministry is planning to introduce anti-terrorism and anti-extremism classes into educational institutions in a bid to counter youth radicalization, a news report said Monday.

Guidelines for the program's implementation are unknown, but will include extra-curricular activities aimed at "fostering in the youth a dislike for extremist and terrorist sentiments," Interfax reported.

Anti-terrorism and anti-extremism training will also be undertaken by teachers at all levels as part of their own professional development, the director of the ministry's department of youth affairs, Alexander Stradze, said.

The draft decree of the measure is still being finalized.
