51 years ago today, on Oct. 21, 1962, Yevgeny Yevtushenko's poem "The Heirs of Stalin" appeared in Pravda newspaper. Yevtushenko wrote it after Stalin's body was removed from the mausoleum. The poem is thought to refer to the fact that many people still believed in Stalin's ideals and wished to carry them on after his death.
