One Dead in Moscow Fire

One person has died in a fire in Moscow, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported Thursday.

The fire broke out on the seventh floor of a nine-story building on Startovaya Street in the Russian capital's northeast, the ministry said.

"The flame was extinguished at 02:24 Moscow Time," the ministry's statement said. "Six people were rescued from top floors. One person died."

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire. An investigation is under way.
