Newly-elected Mayor Sergei Sobyanin could be inaugurated as soon as Sept. 20.
Moscow's charter states that an elected mayor must be inaugurated within 10 days of the election results being confirmed, an unidentified City Hall official told Interfax on Monday.
"If the Moscow City Elections Commission officially finalizes the election results on Tuesday, Sept. 10, then the inauguration will take place no later than Sept. 20," the official said.
The results will be finalized as soon as documents from all 127 territorial elections commissions have been received, the chairman of the Moscow City Elections Commission's said.
Asked for a specific date, the chairman said that the results would probably be finalized on Tuesday.
