Shot Putter Given 2-Year Suspension for Doping

The Russian Athletics Federation said shot putter Anna Avdeyeva has been suspended for two years for doping.

The federation said on its website that the 2011 European indoor shot put champion tested positive for the banned substance oral turinabol on July 30, while training outside Moscow.

The suspension for Avdeyeva, which began on Aug. 5 and will expire on Aug. 4, 2015, will keep the athlete out of the world indoor championships in Poland next year.
