Moscow Housing to be Limited to Nine Stories

Moscow region authorities are planning to restrict the height of residential buildings to nine stories, down from the current limit of 17, Vedomosti reported.

Exceptions may be made, said Deputy Head of the Moscow Region government German Yelyanyushkin, but only if the "uniqueness" of the project is verified by the authorities.

The new rules, which will be confirmed in July or August, will not apply to those projects that have already been approved.

The new regulations will reduce the profitability of residential construction by up to 40 percent, Maria Litinetskaya of Metrium Group told Vedomosti.
