Shopping Mall Blaze Tackled in Moscow Region (Video)

Firefighters have put out a blaze that broke out in a shopping mall in Sergiyev Posad in the Moscow region. No one was injured.

The U Perrona shopping mall on Vokzalnaya Ulitsa caught on fire at 6 p.m. Monday, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.

Witnesses said that the fire started in a bin outside a restaurant on the first floor before spreading throughout the building, Sergiyev Posad Kopeika newspaper reported.

Video footage shows smoke billowing out of the roof of the mall as firefighters race to douse the flames.

At the height of the blaze, the fire spread out over an area of 50 meters.

Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after the fire broke out and conducted an emergency evacuation.

The fire was contained at 7 p.m., and put out less than two hours later, the ministry said.
