Russian Boy Stabbed While on Vacation in Crete

ATHENS, Greece — Greek authorities say a 12-year-old Russian boy vacationing on the island of Crete who was found stabbed multiple times was airlifted to Athens for treatment of serious injuries.

Police have detained a 20-year-old Dutch man who was employed at the child's hotel.

A Crete police official said the child had been on vacation with his family, staying at a hotel where employees were running activities for children Tuesday afternoon. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity pending an official announcement, said initial information indicated that the boy reported his laptop and mobile phone missing after the session.
