Diamond Output Up 11% in 2011

Russia became the world's largest diamond producer in terms of volume last year, turning out 35.139 million carats at a value of $2.675 billion and an average price of $76.12 per carat — up 11 percent on the year, Interfax reported Thursday, citing Kimberley Process' website.
