FAS Rules on VimpelCom

The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has agreed to drop complaints over Telenor's stake in VimpelCom on the condition that any person serving as chief executive of VimpelCom's Russian operations will hold Russian citizenship.

A government commission with oversight of foreign investments in strategic areas made the ruling about FAS, VimpelCom and its Norwegian shareholder late Monday, Kommersant reported.

The current head of VimpelCom OAO, the Russian division, is Russian citizen Anton Kudryashov. Jo Lunder, CEO of global parent company VimpelCom Ltd., is a Norwegian citizen, according to VimpelCom Ltd.'s website.
