Siluanov Backs Tax Break

The Finance Ministry is in favor of renewing zero profit tax for farmers, but this should be for the regions to decide, acting Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Interfax reported Wednesday.

"Farmers also need tax support in connection with WTO membership," Siluanov said.

The zero profit tax for farmers has been extended three times, and it is being proposed to do so again now, he said. "This should be for a certain period, perhaps three years, to enable farming enterprises to adapt to new conditions for operating in WTO conditions," he said.
