CTC Opens in Kyrgyzstan

CTC Media has begun broadcasting a channel in Kyrgyzstan after signing an agreement with the Yevropa-Azia broadcasting company, Interfax reported Wednesday.

"Yevropa-Azia will be in charge of advertising sales," CTC Media's chief financial officer and acting CEO Boris Podolsky was quoted in a statement as saying.

The channel is currently available to 25 percent of the Kyrgyz viewing population, and technical penetration will increase, CTC's head of international broadcasting, Marat Devlet-Kildeyev, is cited as saying. The international version of the CTC channel is available to viewers in the United States, Israel, Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa via the Hot Bird satellite.
