Helicopter Crashes Into Volga River, Pilot Dies

A Bell 407 helicopter crashed Thursday morning into a section of the Volga River in Nizhny Novgorod, killing the pilot, who was the sole passenger, RIA-Novosti reported.

The privately owned aircraft, which had taken off Thursday morning from the Moscow region town of Bunkovo, went down on its descent into Nizhny Novgorod after clipping a power line. It split into two parts and crashed into the ice covering the Volga River. On Thursday afternoon, rescuers recovered the body of pilot Igor Syevbo.
