BP Extends CSR Program

BP announced Tuesday the launch of a $50 million corporate social responsibility program in Russia for 2011-15 for technology, education and culture projects.

This new investment will build on the five-year program BP started in 2004 in partnership with three leading Russian universities, and which has since been extended to include 10 additional educational and research centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

As part of the initiative, BP will provide scholarships to B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. students, annual teaching grants of up to $100,000 to Russian professors, and research grants for young scientists pursuing energy- and economy-related studies. Starting in 2011, BP will also support programs run by the Podari Zhizn and Vo Blago charity funds, which help children suffering from serious diseases.
