Rosatom in Bangladesh

DHAKA — Rosatom agreed to build an atomic power plant in Bangladesh, the South Asian nation's science minister said.

Yeafesh Osman, Bangladesh's state minister for science and information and communication technology and Sergei Kiriyenko, head of Rosatom, signed the agreement in Dhaka on Wednesday, Osman told reporters.

Bangladesh, where more than half of the 166 million population don't have access to electricity, plans to spend $10 billion over a decade to increase power capacity and attract investments from abroad. The government said in September that it would ask international companies to submit bids to build seven power plants with a combined capacity of 1,455 megawatts.
