Extradition for Ex-President

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan — Kyrgyzstan is preparing to file a new extradition request for ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who fled to Belarus last year after a popular uprising, Deputy Interior Minister Melis Turganbayev said Friday.

More than 80 people died when government forces tried to suppress the protest that brought down Bakiyev's government in April 2010.

Belarus has already declined requests for Bakiyev to be extradited, describing the pleas as politically motivated.
