Fewer People Flying Farther

Russian airlines increased passenger transport 11.7 percent year on year to 34.84 million persons in January-July 2011, the Federal Air Transportation Agency said in a statement.

A total of 16.96 million passengers were flown to international locations, up 12 percent year on year. Total domestic transport increased 11.5 percent to 17.88 million passengers.

Passenger throughput in the seven months went up 12.4 percent to 90.2 billion passenger kilometers. Seat occupancy went down 1.8 percent to 76 percent.
