Suicide Bomber Kills Self

MAKHACHKALA — A suicide bomber blew himself up near a special forces police base in Dagestan but caused no other deaths or injuries, police said.

The bomber detonated an explosives belt about 150 meters from a trailer housing OMON police late Saturday after failing to penetrate the base in Kizlyar, police spokesman Vyacheslav Gasanov said.

The bomber also was carrying two grenades and a Kalashnikov automatic rifle. The dead bomber was identified as 30-year-old Abdulkadyr Aliyev.
