Deportation Challenged

LONDON — Lawyers for a Russian woman detained in Britain on suspicion of spying initiated a legal challenge to her deportation order Thursday, claiming she was the innocent victim of a bungled secret services operation.

Yekaterina Zatuliveter, who worked as an assistant to Liberal Democrat lawmaker Mike Hancock, was detained on the grounds that her presence in Britain “was not conducive to the public good.” She has denied any wrongdoing.
