Train Bombers Identified

The Investigative Committee has accused Ingushetia natives Zelimkhan Aushev and Murat Kartoyev of planting a bomb that derailed the Nevsky Express train in November 2009, killing 26, the Rosbalt news agency reported Tuesday, citing a law enforcement source.

The committee has not commented on reports about the suspects’ identities. Rosbalt said the men, who were arrested in the spring, are alleged to have worked for radical ideologist Said Buryatsky, whom police shot dead in March.

Relatives of Aushev and Kartoyev denied their involvement and said the men were tortured in detention. But the agency’s source said witnesses’ testimony and forensic data confirmed accusations in the case.
