Qatar Talks on Gas, Banking

Qatar, the largest exporter of liquefied natural gas, will discuss joint gas projects and sign a memorandum of understanding with a top Russian bank during the Qatari emir’s visit to Moscow, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani is due in Moscow from Tuesday to Thursday, the Kremlin said.

Qatar is interested in Russian independent gas producer Novatek’s liquefied natural gas project in Arctic Russia, while export monopoly Gazprom has been invited to tender for oil and gas projects in the Gulf state, the Kremlin said. State controlled VTB is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding with sovereign wealth fund Qatar Holding, the Kremlin said.
