U.S. Citizen Jailed in Rostov

Yevgeny Kravtsov, a U.S. citizen living in Idaho, was sentenced Monday to three years in prison by a Rostov-on-Don district court for trying to smuggle two old coins out of Russia in July, Interfax reported.

Kravtsov, 26, hid a 1899 tsarist ruble and a Soviet ruble issued in 1924 in his luggage, but the coins were discovered by customs officials in Rostov-on-Don’s international airport, the report said.
