City Authorities Sue Tsereteli

The prefecture of Moscow’s Central Administrative District and Zurab Tsereteli, the favorite sculptor of former Mayor Yury Luzhkov, have filed lawsuits against each other over the reconstruction of a house owned by Tsereteli, news reports said.

Tsereteli extended the building’s area without obtaining permission from local authorities, Interfax said Friday.

Tsereteli sued the prefecture in July after it refused to formally sanction the use of the building after the work was finished, but the authorities sued him back, asking the court to rule the reconstruction illegal, Gazeta.ru said Saturday, adding that the second suit was filed last month but not reported previously. A hearing is set for Friday.
