$81M in Nightclub Lawsuits

Defendants in a trial over a fire that killed 156 people in a Perm nightclub in December face civil lawsuits worth 2.5 billion rubles ($81 million), RIA-Novosti reported Monday.

Of 400 people included in the case, including victims and families of those who died in the fire at the Khromaya Loshad club, 304 are seeking damages over the incident, the prosecutor said at the trial. Eight people, including the club’s owners and employees, as well as officials responsible for fire safety, stand accused at the ongoing trial on various charges.
